THE BAUHINIA PROGRAM
What Is It
A Bauhinia Trainer is a student who has graduated from the RedDoor Centre training program. They are trained in many aspects of technology, including how to use certain apps as well as how to fix problems.
They provide help to the entire RCHK community, including students, teachers, parents and domestic helpers.
Each May, students in Year 5 are invited to be trained in various aspects of technology use, troubleshooting and solving common problems. After completing 6 weeks of training, a select few students are invited to be Bauhinia Trainers for the start of Year 6.

Protocols/Aims
Members of the Bauhinia Training Program can expect... - to assume regular hours working behind the Red Door service counter - assist with rollout of laptops - assist/run training sessions for students and adults - attend conferences - help out new students/substitute teachers - attend monthly meetings with Mr. Prohaska - adhere to a strict code of ethics (outstanding code of behaviour eg. no illegal content on computer, no plagiarised work, etc.) |

BAUHINIA TRAINERS for 2017-18
You must first submit an application towards becoming a Bauhinia Trainer. If accepted, you will be invited to attend a variety of training sessions during May and June. At the completion of the training, a number of students will then be invited into the Bauhinia Trainer program (not all students who attend the training will be invited). All details are below.
Scope of Training Program
This will cover training in,
- Essential Apple tools iMovie, GarageBand, Keynote and Pages
- Weebly
- The Google Suite (GMail, Calendar, Drive, etc)
- Common issues with laptops, iPads and projection (resolution, mirroring)

Application Process (3 Steps)
Stage 1:
Use Google Drive to share a 1 minute video (max) to Mr. Prohaska demonstrating why you should be selected to the training program. DEADLINE THURSDAY MAY 4
Stage 2:
After submitting a video, you may be invited to skills training (see Scope of Program). There will be assignments to be completed during this stage. INVITATIONS WILL BE EMAILED ON FRIDAY MAY 5
Stage 3:
At the end of the training program, trainees present a 2 minute training session on a specific technology subject. Bauhinia Program members will be selected based on 1) attendance to training sessions and 2) their final presentation. Please note...NOT EVERY TRAINEE WILL BE SELECTED.
